Is It Legal For USA Citizens To Play In Online Casinos
Back in October 2006 a new law cam into practice which changed the online gambling market, the law made it difficult for people in the USA based players to participate. The law stated that it was illegal for USA banks to process payments to online gambling websites.
Despite this law there are numerous ways that USA citizens can deposit money and play in online casinos e.g they can send money to online wallets. Once the money is in the online wallet they then send it to a casino.
There are other ways that USA citizens can deposit money as well but I won’t go into details. Due to the different options available to USA players and the amount of propaganda that is out there a lot of people are confused about whether or not USA players can legally play in online casinos.
There’s no question about the banks not being allowed to transfer money but what about the people who actually play, is it illegal for them to find other ways of playing? There are too many people that are unsure of the exact details of the law, myself included.
It seems a lot of online casino and poker website are also confused which is why they have pulled out of the USA market despite the knowledge that doing so would decrease their stock value dramatically. There are other casinos doing exactly the opposite, they’re using the law to their advantage and targeting the USA market because there are now less competing websites.
This means there are still plenty of places for USA citizens to play roulette, poker or any other from gambling online. I personally would be very cautious if I were a USA citizen looking to gamble online and would probably seek legal advice.
I’m always suspicious about online casinos that accept USA players and am dubious about the fairness of the games. While some casinos accept USA players they aren’t licensed to do business in the USA, they’re licensed in places such as the Philippines.
Online casinos based in such countries have very flexible laws and are nowhere near as fair as casino licensed in places such as the United Kingdom. If you’ve made the decision to gamble online and you are in the USA you should definitely take the time to research the many different gambling websites to find one that suits you and has a good reputation.
